Suspects sought in three shootings at Richmond Hill cinema

Police say shots were fired at main entrance May 17, 19 and 24

Police are looking for witnesses after shots were fired on three occasions at York Cinemas in Richmond Hill.

On Friday at 7 a.m., police were called to the cinema in the area of East Beaver Creek Road and Highway 7 after an employee arrived for work and found the windows of numerous main-entrance doors shattered.

Video surveillance shows a dark-coloured SUV pull up in front of the entrance doors at 2:30 a.m. From the rear right passenger window, someone fires numerous shots in the direction of the entrance doors before the vehicle is driven away.

This is the third shooting at the cinema since May 17, and a different suspect vehicle was involved in each incident.

Shortly before 10 a.m. on May 17, shots were fired toward the main-entrance doors. The same happened on May 19, shortly before 9:30 p.m. No injuries were reported in the incidents.

The suspect vehicle involved in the May 17 shooting is a white, four-door pickup truck with a black cargo bed cover.

The vehicle involved in Friday’s shooting is a dark-coloured SUV with black rims.
