Investigators with the York Regional Police Hold-Up Unit are seeking suspects and any witnesses following two separate home invasion robberies in the City of Markham.
On Monday, Nov. 14, 2022 just after 5 a.m., officers responded to an address on Taurasi Court for a report of a home invasion. Officers learned that at approximately 4 a.m., three suspects forced their way into the home through the back door. Two of the suspects were armed with handguns and one had a hammer. The suspects stole a quantity of cash and other property then fled the scene in a vehicle.
On Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2022 just before 3:30 a.m, police responded to a 911 call regarding a home invasion at a residence on Hollingham Road in Markham. The victim reported that four masked male suspects smashed through a back door and demanded money. Two of the suspects were armed with handguns and one was armed with a hatchet. The suspects stole several items from the home then fled from the scene in a vehicle.
Fortunately, there were no injuries in either of these incidents. At this time, investigators are working to determine if these two incidents are linked. Anyone with information is urged to come forward.
York Regional Police wants to remind our citizens to always keep your doors locked and consider installing a loud, audible alarm system in your home. We also do not recommend keeping large quantities of cash or valuables in your home. We encourage citizens to report any incidents of home invasions as quickly as possible.
