Suspect wanted after woman sexually assaulted in Vaughan bus shelter

Incident occurred on Sept. 29 at 3 a.m. in the Steeles Avenue West and Settler Road area

York Regional Police have released images of a suspect wanted in connection with the sexual assault of a woman in a Vaughan bus shelter last month.

A woman in the shelter at Steeles Avenue West and Settler Road on Friday, Sept. 29 around 3 a.m. was approached by a man who touched her in a sexual manner, according to a York Regional Police news release.

The victim yelled at the man and was able to get away and call police.

The suspect, last seen walking along Steeles, is described as: male, black, age 25 to 30, 5 feet 6 inches in height, muscular build, short black hair, slim fac, and was wearing black trousers and black jacket.

A sexual assault includes any non-consensual contact of a sexual nature. York Regional Police encourages anyone who feels they may have been a victim of a sexual assault to come forward and report the incident to police. There is no statute of limitations for sexual offences and offenders can be prosecuted well after the date of the offence.

If you are the survivor of sexual assault, you can report the incident online if:
    •    You are not in immediate danger
    •    The person who assaulted you is not present
    •    There is no evidence present that may be collected by police (blood, semen, saliva, etc.). Evidence can be collected for up to 12 days after the sexual assault has occurred
    •    You have access to a private email address, to which the suspect does not
