Suspect charged with first degree murder in Richmond Hill homicide investigation

Investigators with the York Regional Police Homicide Unit have charged an 18-year-old man in an ongoing homicide investigation in the City of Richmond Hill.

On Friday, Nov. 13, 2020 at 6:19 p.m., York Regional Police were called to a residence on Leisure Lane, which is in the area of Bathurst Street and Major Mackenzie Drive West, for a report of a shooting. When officers arrived, they located a man outside of a residence who was suffering from gunshot wounds. He was transported to hospital but succumbed to his injuries.

The victim was identified as Amir Hossein Homayouni, also known as Danny, 35, from the City of Richmond Hill.

Through investigation, one suspect was identified and on Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2020, investigators executed a warrant in the City of Toronto and the suspect was arrested without incident.

Charged:
    •    Jaheim Claudius Johnson, 18, City of Toronto

Charge:
    •    First degree murder

The investigation is ongoing.
