Suspect armed with knife flees with cash in 2 convenience store robberies

Investigators with the York Regional Police Hold-Up Unit are seeking a suspect and witnesses following armed robberies at two convenience stores in Richmond Hill and Vaughan.

On Sunday, March 6, 2021 at approximately 3:20 a.m., York Regional Police were called to a store at 7241 Bathurst St. for a report of a robbery. A male suspect entered the store and demanded cash while holding a knife. The suspect obtained a quantity of cash and fled from the scene.

At 3:50 a.m., York Regional Police responded to nearby store located at 800 Steeles Ave. West for another report of a robbery. Again, a male suspect entered the store and demanded cash while holding a knife. The suspect obtained a quantity of cash and fled from the scene.

Fortunately, nobody was injured in either incident.

The suspect is described as male, Black, 190 to 200 pounds, 6’ with a thin build.

Investigators from the Hold-Up Unit remind business owners of the importance of maintaining and updating video surveillance equipment. Quality images help to identify suspects, can aid in arrests and have a tremendous impact during court proceedings.
