'So I'm the problem one?': Vaughan woman with child in vehicle charged with impaired (VIDEO)

The officer observed the six-year-old was not wearing a seatbelt or otherwise safely restrained, according to York Regional Police

York Regional Police are reminding citizens to report suspected impaired drivers after releasing a video that shows the arrest of a 37-year-old Vaughan woman with a six-year-old child in the vehicle.

An officer pulled over a vehicle after clocking its speed at 95 km/h an in a 50 km/h zone near Steeles Avenue and Thurman Road on Saturday, Jan. 29 at about 1:30 a.m., according to police.

The officer observed a young child in the vehicle was not wearing a seatbelt or otherwise safely restrained.

A video released by police shows that the driver failed a roadside breath test and she has been charged with dangerous driving and 80 plus.

The Children’s Aid Society was notified, police said.

"I just don't like drunk drivers on our roads, especially when they have children in the back seat of the car," the officer can be heard responding to the driver's question, "So I'm the problem one... you're not, right?"

"We are not giving up in our fight against impaired driving," police said. "We are urging our citizens to partner with us in the Safe Roads: Your Call campaign, by calling 911 if they suspect a driver is impaired. We consider these incidents life-threatening crimes in progress and will continue to respond to these calls."

More than 3,500 people call 911 to report impaired driving each year, police said.

"We remind those who choose to drive while impaired by drugs or alcohol that not only are police officers watching for them, our citizens also refuse to tolerate this behaviour. Anyone choosing to put others at risk by driving while impaired should expect to be caught and charged."
