UPDATE: SIU investigating after suspect shot by police in Vaughan

UPDATE: SIU says a man was shot multiple times by two officers this morning

UPDATE: A 44-year-old man was shot several times by two York Regional Police officers this morning in Woodbridge, according to the Special Investigations Unit.

According to the SIU, preliminary information suggests the following:

  • At around 8 am this morning, York Regional Police received a complaint about a suspicious vehicle on Hanlan Road in Woodbridge. 
  • Two officers responded to the scene and an interaction ensued between the officers and a man.  
  • Both officers discharged their firearms, striking the man several times while he was outside of the vehicle. 
  • The man was taken to hospital for treatment of multiple gunshot wounds. 

Three investigators and two forensic investigators have been assigned to the case.

At this time, two subject officials and one witness official have been designated.

The province's Special Investigations Unit (SIU) is investigating the shooting of a man by a York Regional Police officer this morning in Vaughan.

York officers responded to an industrial plaza on Hanlan Road near Pine Valley Drive for a weapons call Wednesday, Nov. 2 at about 8:30 a.m., police said.

A suspect was shot during an interaction with officers, police said. A man was transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Any witnesses or anyone who may have video surveillance or dashcam footage of the incident are urged to contact the SIU at 1-800-787-8529.
