York Regional Police have identified a suspect in the murder of Richmond Hill's Kevin Bonada Rosas after his remains were found on June 5, 2023

Police charged 37-year-old Anoshirvan Shirizadeh from Richmond Hill with second degree murder on Nov. 15.

The charge comes over five years after Rosas went missing. Police said Rosas was last seen at his residence on Elmwood Avenue on June 21, 2018. He was reported missing by the family on June 26, 2018.

Efforts to find him were unsuccessful, police said, and his disappearance was deemed suspicious. The homicide unit assumed control of the investigation in April 2021.

Police said that on June 5, 2023, human remains were found buried in the yard of a residence on Elmwood Avenue and forensic examination confirmed them to be the remains of Rosas.

The cause of death is not being released.

The investigation is ongoing. Police are appealing to the public for any information that may assist in the investigation.
