Public can attend funeral procession for fallen South Simcoe officers

The South Simcoe Police Service has announced the funeral arrangements for constables Morgan Russell and Devon Michael Northrup, who were killed in the line of duty Tuesday night while responding to a call for a disturbance call in Alcona. 

The following arrangements have been finalized in partnership with the officers’ families:

Funeral:

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 20, 2022, at the Sadlon Arena, located at 555 Bayview Dr. in Barrie.

Members of the public are invited to observe the funeral procession as it travels from the Adams Funeral Home and Cremation Services Ltd (445 St. Vincent St., Barrie) and the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Homes (30 Worsley St., Barrie) to the Sadlon Arena.

While the Service appreciate the public’s support, the funeral is not open to the public, but will include other police services and emergency service personnel.

Private visitations for constables Russell and Northrup are taking place for family, friends and colleagues the day prior to the funeral and will not be open to media or the public.
