Three Toronto teenagers have been arrested by the Provincial Carjacking Task Force following an investigation into home invasions and carjackings in Richmond Hill and Peel Region.

On Oct. 20, Peel Regional Police responded to a home invasion at Birchview Drive and Springhill Drive in Mississauga, according to a news release. Police learned that two suspects stole an Audi A7 and a Porsche Cayenne, which were later located in Toronto.

Task force investigators, along with the Emergency Response Unit (ERU), maintained observations on the stolen vehicles, along with three suspects connected with the home invasion and thefts.

On Monday, Oct. 23 at about 3 a.m., three suspects went to a residence in the area of Frybrook Crescent and Boake Trail in Richmond Hill. Two suspects broke into the home, while one suspect remained in the Porsche, police said.

Two suspects attempted to flee but they were arrested nearby, police said. One suspect had a replica firearm in his possession. Another suspect fled in the Porsche, hitting several police vehicles before becoming immobilized after hitting a retaining wall, before being arrested.

Muhab Ahmed Ali, 18, Tariq Mansour, 18, and Javed Haider, 18, are charged with:
    •    Robbery Using Restricted or Prohibited Firearm x2
    •    Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
    •    Disguise with Intent x2
    •    Break, Enter and Commit an Indictable Offence (Haider only)
    •    Theft of Motor Vehicle Over $5,000 (Haider only)
    •    Fail to Comply with Judicial Release Order x3 (Haider only)
    •    Fail to Comply with Judicial Release Order x2 (Mansour only)

At the time of this incident, both Mansour and Haider were already on bail for previous, unrelated charges, police said.

As a result of the rising incidents of violence related to auto crimes across the Greater Toronto Area, local police services have combined resources and established a Provincial Carjacking Joint Task Force to further co-ordinate law enforcement efforts in combating these crimes.

This collaborative approach aims to disrupt the networks responsible for violent and high-risk auto thefts and maximize enforcement efforts against criminal organizations.

Co-led by the Toronto Police Service and the Ontario Provincial Police, the task force is a collaboration between police services from across the GTA, including York Regional Police, Halton Regional Police Service, Durham Regional Police Service, Peel Regional Police, and other external agencies, including Criminal Intelligence Service of Ontario.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the York Regional Police Hold-Up Unit at 1-866-876-5423, ext. 6630, or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS, or leave an anonymous tip online.
