UPDATE, 5:15 p.m.: A source with knowledge at the scene said it was a robbery at gunpoint, but that nobody was hurt.
Police were seen throughout the surrounding neighbourhood and a police helicopter and a SWAT team were spotted.
Police have since left the scene at BMO and the tape has now been removed.
Anthony Bernardi said he came after the robbery occured because he knew someone at BMO.
He said it was alarming at first, but he felt good when he heard no one was harmed.
“I feel better now, it’s more reassuring,” Bernardi said.
He described watching police attend to the scene, with the SWAT team and canine unit going into the building and a police helicopter flying overhead.
“It’s weird, because it feels like something out of a movie,” Bernardi said.

York Regional Police have dispatched units to investigate a potential robbery in the area of Yonge Street and Mulock Drive in Newmarket.
Officials confirmed to NewmarketToday that York Regional Police are currently on scene investigating.
