Investigators with the York Regional Police #5 District Criminal Investigations Bureau are seeking witnesses following a suspicious fire in the City of Markham.
On Monday, May 16, 2022, at approximately 2 p.m., York Regional Police were called to the Markham Fairgrounds, located at 10801 McCowan Rd., for a report of a fire.
When officers arrived, they located a transport truck on fire. Markham Fire and Rescue Services attended and extinguished the fire. Fortunately, no one was injured and investigators believe the fire was intentionally set.
Investigators are appealing to anyone with information or who witnessed any suspicious activity in the area to come forward. Investigators would also like to speak with anyone with video surveillance or dashcam footage in the area of McCowan Road and Elgin Mills Road around the time of the incident.
