Police seize 2,000 cannabis plants in Holland Marsh drug bust

On Sept. 25, 2019 members of the Provincial Joint Forces Cannabis Enforcement Team (PJFCET) of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), member of the South Simcoe Police Service, as well as members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police executed a search warrant on a Canal Road residence in the City of Bradford. 

As a result of the investigation and subsequent warrant the following people were arrested and charged:

Lap Phan, 56, Mississauga

• Cultivation, propagation and harvesting of cannabis under the provisions of the Cannabis Act

Nham Nguyen, 46, Bradford

• Cultivation, propagation and harvesting of cannabis under the provisions of the Cannabis Act

Huong Truong, 65, Bradford

• Cultivation, propagation and harvesting of cannabis under the provisions of the Cannabis Act

All accused persons are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Bradford on Nov. 14, 2019. 

Police seized more than 2,000 cannabis plants as a result of the warrant. The investigation is continuing. 

The OPP is continuing to lead an enforcement strategy which includes other Ontario police services. This strategy will reflect actionable intelligence on illegal cannabis operations. 

The focus of the strategy is to dismantle organized crime groups, eliminate the illegal cannabis supply, remove illegal cannabis enterprises such as storefronts and online, and target the proceeds of crime and assets.
