Police seeking witnesses after woman injured in Newmarket

York Regional Police responded to a report of a person injured Saturday morning at a townhouse parking lot near Bathurst and Keith

York Regional Police are investigating after a woman was injured and a vehicle damaged at a Newmarket townhouse community last Saturday.

Police responded to a report of an injured person at about 9 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 8 on Gibney Crescent, near Bathurst Street and Keith Avenue, media relations officer Const. Maniva Armstrong said.

A female with injuries had called police, but couldn't explain what had occurred, Armstrong said.

A number of people have been identified and are being interviewed as the investigation is ongoing, she added.

A vehicle was involved and was found to be damaged and have blood on it, however, Armstrong said it does not appear to have been damaged as a result of a collision.

Police are investigating to determine exactly what happened, but Armstrong said it appears to be an isolated incident and there is no threat to public safety.

Any witnesses who were in the area and may have seen something or have dash cam of surveillance footage are asked to contact the District 1 Criminal Investigation Bureau at 1-866-876-5423 x 7141.
