Police search for suspect after 'indecent act' reported in Newmarket

Police say the suspect approached the victim's car window and committed an indecent act

Investigators with the York Regional Police #1 District Criminal Investigations Bureau are seeking public assistance to identify a suspect following a harassment and indecent act incident in the Town of Newmarket.

On Friday, June 19, 2020 just before 3 p.m., a woman reported to police that she had parked her car on Victoria Street and observed a suspicious person on Park Avenue who appeared to be watching her. She had gone inside a residence in the area and when she came back out the male was still outside. She rushed quickly to her car as she was fearful for her safety and the suspect came up to her car window and committed an indecent act.

Anyone who witnessed this incident or who can identify the suspect are asked to come forward.

Suspect:
    •    male
    •    approximately 40 years
    •    approximately 6’
    •    180 lbs
    •    medium build
    •    wearing a baseball hat, a blue long-sleeve shirt, grey pants, black running shoes and sunglasses
