Police issue warning after 3 vehicles set on fire in Richmond Hill

Police are looking for a suspect after three vehicles were set on fire in Richmond Hill.

Three vehicles have been set on fire in Richmond Hill since June, prompting York Regional Police to issue a warning.

On June 10 at about 1:15 a.m., police responded to a home on Estoril Street, near Berwick Crescent and 16th Avenue, for a report of a fire. Three people were asleep when one of them was awakened by noises outside. She saw her vehicle engulfed in flames in the driveway. The fire was extinguished and no one was injured.

Video from the area showed a male suspect pouring a liquid on the vehicle and setting it on fire. The video can be seen here.

On June 28 at about 12:30 a.m., police were called to a residence on Berwick Crescent, not far from Estoril Street, for another report of a vehicle fire. The residents saw their vehicle on fire in the driveway and exited their home through the back door. No one was injured. A male suspect was seen near the vehicle at the time of the incident.

On Aug. 17 at about 2:30 a.m., police responded to another home on Berwick Crescent for a car fire. A neighbour reported a car engulfed in flames. The fire was extinguished and no one was injured.

Video surveillance from that incident showed the suspect pouring liquid on the vehicle, setting it on fire and running away. Police said the suspect might have been injured. The video can be seen here.

The suspect is described as a tall male with a medium build. He was wearing a hooded jacket. He might have burn injuries on his hands or face.
