Police investigating suspicious tow truck fire in Newmarket

Investigators with the York Regional Police #1 District Criminal Investigations Bureau are seeking witnesses following a suspicious tow truck fire in the Town of Newmarket.

On Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2020, at 3:25 a.m., York Regional Police were called to a residence on Skinner Avenue, which is in the area of Bayview Avenue and Mulock Drive for a report that a tow truck was on fire in a driveway. When officers arrived they found the truck on fire. It was extinguished and investigators believe that the fire was intentionally set. No one was injured.

The scene is being held for further investigation by the Office of the Fire Marshal.

Investigators are appealing to anyone who witnessed any suspicious activity in either area or anyone with residential video surveillance that captured any suspicious activity to come forward. This investigation is ongoing.
