Investigators with the York Regional Police Homicide Unit are seeking witnesses following a suspicious death in the City of Markham.

On Saturday, June 6, 2020, shortly after 9 p.m., York Regional Police received a report of a man who was injured outside of a residence on Marydale Avenue, which is in the area of Steeles Avenue East and Markham Road.

When officers arrived they found a 45-year-old man, from the City of Toronto, who was suffering from life-threatening injuries. Paramedics attended, but the man succumbed to his injuries.

The victim’s name is being withheld until the manner of death has been determined.

The investigation is ongoing and residents in the area can expect a significant police presence as investigators continue to canvass the area and officers with the Search and Rescue Unit conduct an evidence search.

Investigators are appealing to anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the area, or anyone who may have been driving in the area at the time with a dashcam to please come forward.
