Person dies in fiery collision with hydro pole in Thornhill

York Regional Police have been unable to identify the victim and are seeking witnesses to the early morning collision

Investigators with the York Regional Police Major Collision Investigation Unit are seeking witnesses following a fatal collision in the City of Vaughan.

On Thursday, Oct. 24, 2019, shortly after 1:30 a.m., York Regional Police were called to a single-vehicle collision that had occurred on Dufferin Street, north of Centre Street.

When officers arrived they found a vehicle that left the roadway, struck a hydro pole and was fully engulfed in flames. Once the fire was extinguished, a person was found in the driver’s seat, deceased. The driver has yet to be identified.

Any witnesses who have not yet spoken with police, or anyone who may have dashcam footage of the collision, are being asked to please come forward.
