Investigators with the #1 District Criminal Investigations Bureau are seeking witnesses following a shooting that occurred in the Town of Newmarket.

On Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2019, shortly before 11 p.m., York Regional Police were called to a residence on Charlotte Street, which is in the area of Davis Drive and Main Street for a report of a shooting. When officers arrived they were met by a 42-year-old male victim who was suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. He was transported to hospital for treatment.

Investigation has revealed that an unknown man armed with a gun approached the victim at his residence. A shot was fired through the front door of the residence, striking the victim. The suspect then fled the area.

Investigators are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the shooting or anyone who may have been driving in the area at the time that may have dashcam footage to please come forward.
