Newmarket man killed in single-vehicle collision in Scugog

A 55-year-old Newmarket man is dead following a single-vehicle collision in Scugog Township Friday night.

A 2007 black Honda sedan was travelling eastbound on Scugog Line 12, east of Marsh Hill Road, at approximately 7:50 p.m. June 17 when it left the road, partially rolling over and striking a large tree, according to Durham Regional Police.

First responders arrived within minutes, however the driver and lone occupant of the vehicle had succumbed to his injuries at the collision scene, police said.

The area of the roadway was closed for several hours for the investigation.
