Newmarket man charged in collision on Canal Road bridge in Bradford

A Newmarket man has been arrested following a single-vehicle collision on the Canal Road bridge in Bradford West Gwillimbury Thursday morning.

South Simcoe Police Service officers responded to the collision on the Canal Road bridge at Pumphouse Road, where a vehicle had struck the concrete median on the bridge, police said in a news release.

The driver was not injured, police added.

Gustavo Vieira Dias, 50, is charged with failure or refusal to comply with demand.

His licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

The accused was released with a future court date, police said.

Failure or refusal to provide a roadside breath sample has the same result as failing a roadside breath test, police said.
