Investigators with the York Regional Police Hold-Up Unit are seeking assistance to identify a suspect following a bank robbery in the Town of Newmarket.

On Thursday, Sept. 26, 2019 shortly after 4 p.m., police were called to a bank located in the area of Yonge Street and Davis Drive for a report of a robbery. When officers arrived, they found employees in the bank who were not physically injured.

Investigators have determined that a man entered the bank and approached a teller. He was armed with a rifle and made a demand for cash. The employee complied and the suspect fled to an awaiting vehicle that was described as a grey, mid-size four-door sedan.

Suspect description:

  • Male, white
  • 55 to 65 years
  • Grey hair
  • Thin-build
  • Wearing sunglasses, a dark baseball cap, grey jacket and white running shoes
