Motorcyclist dies in collision with van in Markham

A 31-year-old motorcyclist is dead following a collision with a van in Markham last night.

The collision occurred in the area of 14th Avenue and Reesor Road at approximately 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 1, York Regional Police said.

When officers arrived at the scene, they learned that a white van had collided with a Black 2009 Yamaha Sports motorcycle.

The motorcycle driver was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

The 37-year-old male driver of the van sustained minor injuries. 

Any witnesses who have not yet spoken with police, or anyone who may have dashcam footage of the collision, are being asked to come forward. Investigators would also like to speak to anyone who saw either of the vehicles or has information on driving behaviours prior to the collision.
