Markham woman drowns after falling off water tube at Lake Simcoe

Officers with the York Regional Police Marine Unit have recovered the body of a 35-year-old woman from Markham after she fell off a water tube on Lake Simcoe.

On Wednesday, July 20, 2022, approximately 2:50 p.m., York Regional Police were called to Holmes Point Park located in the area of Holmes Point Road and Donna Drive, for a report of a possible drowning. When officers arrived, they learned that a female had fallen off a floating tube and submerged into the lake. The female wasn’t wearing a life jacket.

Shortly before 4 p.m., officers with the York Regional Police Marine Unit, with the assistance of Air2, recovered the body. The coroner attended the scene to confirm the identity of the deceased.
