Markham pharmacy robbed at gunpoint

Two suspects demanded cash, narcotics, York Regional Police say

Investigators with the York Regional Police Hold-Up Unit are seeking witnesses following an armed robbery at a pharmacy in the City of Markham.

On Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2020 at 11:41 a.m., York Regional Police were called to a robbery at a pharmacy located in the area of Markham Road and Major Mackenzie Drive West. When officers arrived they found an employee who advised that around 11:30 a.m., two men entered the pharmacy. They jumped the counter, struck the employee and made a demand for cash and narcotics. One of the suspects was armed with a handgun. The employee complied and the suspects fled the area prior to police arrival.

The employee was not physically injured.

Suspect #1:
    •    Male, Black
    •    6’ tall
    •    Thin build
    •    23 to 27 years old
    •    Wearing a black track suit

Suspect #2:
    •    Male, Black
    •    23 to 27 years old
    •    Wearing a black track suit
    •    Armed with a handgun

Investigators are seeking any witnesses who may have seen anything suspicious in the area or anyone who may have dashcam footage in the area at the time.

Investigators from the Hold-Up Unit remind business owners of the importance of maintaining and updating video surveillance equipment. Quality images help to identify suspects, can aid in arrests and have a tremendous impact during court proceedings.
