Markham man wanted after 4 break-ins on Main Street Unionville (UPDATE)

Update, Sept, 28, 2020: York Regional Police have charged a  23-year-old man after a warrant was issued for his arrest following multiple break and enters on Main Street Unionville in Markham.  

Malik Eli Emenike Ugwuala, 23, of Markham turned himself in to police Sept. 28 and is charged with break and enter x7; robbery x4, disguise with intent; and theft under $5,000. 

Another suspect, Daniel LaMontagne, was charged Monday, Aug. 31, 2020.

Investigators with the York Regional Police #5 District Criminal Investigations Bureau are appealing for assistance in locating a suspect wanted on a warrant after four commercial break and enters occurred in the City of Markham.

On Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2020 at approximately 6:45 a.m., officers responded to a report of a break in at an ice cream restaurant on Main Street, Unionville. While investigating, officers discovered that three other businesses had also been broken into overnight in the same area.

The suspect was identified and a warrant was executed at his residence. Officers located evidence connecting the suspect to the incidents, however the suspect has not been located.

The suspect has also been linked to several other incidents including robberies and break and enters that occurred on Aug. 28, 2020 in the Unionville area. A warrant has been issued for his arrest and he is encourage to consult with legal counsel and turn himself in.

Anyone with information on his location is asked to contact police.

    •    Male, Black
    •    5’10-5’11, about 180 lbs
    •    Thin build
    •    Black beard
