Collingwood OPP seized cocaine, a loaded handgun, heroin and cash in a drug trafficking investigation.

A Markham man is among multiple suspects arrested after Collingwood Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers seized a loaded handgun, cocaine, heroin and cash in a drug trafficking investigation that involved a search warrant executed in Markham.

Police were informed several months ago about cocaine and fentanyl trafficking in Collingwood, including information about a suspect, according to an OPP news release.

On April 3, officers in the community street crime unit stopped a vehicle on Highway 26 in Collingwood and arrested the three occupants in connection with the trafficking investigation. One was released without related charges.

"Police searched the occupants and the vehicle, where they located a quantity of cocaine and a loaded 9-mm handgun," police said.

Collingwood, Huronia West, Caledon, and Nottawasaga street crimes units executed a warrant to search for drugs at an address in Markham and police say they located a "large quantity" of cocaine, heroin and cash. Police estimate the value of the items at $60,000.

Police arrested a 34-year-old Collingwood woman and charged her with possession of a schedule one substance (cocaine) for the purpose of trafficking and failing to comply with an undertaking.

A 40-year-old Markham man was also charged with possession of cocaine and heroin for the purpose of trafficking, trafficking cocaine, possession of a prohibited firearm, possession of a prohibited device, possession of a loaded firearm, and failing to attend court.

"Both accused remain in custody, pending the results of bail hearings and will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Collingwood at a future date," states the release.
