Provincial Carjacking Task Force officers have arrested eight suspects, including a Markham resident and Georgina resident, following an investigation across the Greater Toronto Area.

Four suspects went to two residences in Peel Region within hours of each other on Jan. 21. They forced entry, demanding keys to the vehicles at the homes. A BMW X5 and Mercedes Benz G-Wagon were stolen, a York Regional Police news release said.

On Jan. 22, four suspects went to an address in Toronto in a Mercedes Benz G-Wagon that was stolen the day before in Brampton, the release added.

The suspects confronted the homeowner and demanded keys to his vehicle. The suspects left in the victim’s two Aston Martins and the Mercedes Benz G-Wagon. Investigators maintained observations on the stolen Mercedes Benz G-Wagon in Toronto, along with suspects believed to be connected with the home invasion and thefts.

When the suspects met up with a Honda CRV, continued observations of the Honda led to the arrest of the four occupants of that vehicle.

Mohammad Siddiqui, 41, of Mississauga, Muhammad Fayaz, 40, of Markham, Faramroze Havewalla, 39, of Toronto and Asad Mayo, 27, of Mississauga are charged with possession of property obtained by crime.

The Mercedes was followed to an address in the area of Danny Wheeler Boulevard and Glen Rye Street in Georgina. Through investigation, four more suspects were arrested and a search warrant was executed at the address. The stolen Mercedes Benz G-Wagon was seized, as well as documents associated to another stolen vehicle.

Amin Hadj-Kaddour, 22, of Mississauga, Kurushan Reancy, 28, of Mississauga, Brandon Bunbury, 29, of Mississauga, and Thevarajah Thuschianthan, 37, of Georgina are charged with possession of property obtained by crime. Hadj-Kaddour is also charged with possession of break-and-enter tools. Thuschianthan has a second charge of possession of property obtained by crime.

Investigators executed further search warrants at a storage locker facility on Argentia Road, Mississauga where two additional vehicles stolen from Peel Region were recovered.

As a result of the rising incidents of violence related to auto crimes across the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), local police services have combined resources and established a Provincial Carjacking Joint Task Force (PCJTF) to further co-ordinate law enforcement efforts in combating these crimes. This collaborative approach aims to disrupt the networks responsible for violent and high-risk auto thefts and maximize enforcement efforts against criminal organizations.

Co-led by the Toronto Police Service and the Ontario Provincial Police, the task force is a collaboration between police services from across the GTA, including York Regional Police, Halton Regional Police Service, Durham Regional Police Service and Peel Regional Police. Through funding provided by the Ontario Government, Criminal Intelligence Service Ontario supported this Ontario Provincial Police joint investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the York Regional Police at 1-866-876-5423, ext. 6630, or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS, or leave an anonymous tip online.
