Man sprayed in face, robbed after cashing cheque in Vaughan

A man who had just cashed a cheque at a money exchange store was sprayed in the face with an unknown substance and then robbed Friday afternoon, York Regional Police say.

The robbery took place May 5 at around 12:10 p.m. near Keele Street and Snidercroft Road in Vaughan, police said in a news release.

Police said after he was sprayed in the face, the victim dropped the money. A male suspect grabbed the cash before fleeing in a grey van driven by a second suspect.

Investigators are asking anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the area, may have dashcam or video surveillance footage at the time of the incident, or who has information about the suspects, to come forward.
