Man smashes case, flees with jewelry at Markham mall

Police are looking for a suspect in connection with a smash-and-grab at a mall in Markham.

York Regional Police are seeking a suspect after a smash-and-grab robbery at a Markham mall Saturday.

Police were called to a jewelry store at Steeles Avenue East and Kennedy Road at about 5 p.m. where or a male suspect had smashed a display case with a hammer and took a quantity of jewelry before being chased off by the owner.

The suspect was able to get away and was last seen running northbound on Kennedy Road, police said.

The suspect may have injuries as a result of the broken glass case.

  • 5’8”, thin build
  • Wearing sunglasses, a black mask and dark hooded sweater.
