Investigators with the York Regional Police #5 District Criminal Investigations Bureau are seeking a suspect and witnesses following a shooting that occurred in the City of Markham.
On Sunday, July 26, 2020 at approximately 2:15 a.m., officers responded to the area of Cornell Centre Boulevard and Rustle Woods Avenue for reports of sounds of gunshots. Witnesses reported hearing the sound of gunshots and a vehicle fleeing the scene.
Officers determined that a man had been shot and had attended the hospital on his own.
Officers are asking any witnesses who may have been in the area at the time who have not yet spoken to police to please come forward. Investigators are also seeking any video surveillance from the area or anyone that may have captured dashcam video on the roadways in the area.
York Regional Police is asking residents and business owners in our community to partner with us in community safety by signing up for the new Security Camera Registry. The Security Camera Registry gives members of the community the option to let York Regional Police know they have installed residential or commercial security cameras, which may assist police if a crime later occurs in that area.
With just a couple of clicks, you can make your neighbourhood a safer place. Participants can visit here and complete the brief online registration form to add their cameras to the registry. Upon completing the form, participants will also be asked to verify their email address in order to complete the registration.
