Man flees with drugs after pharmacy robbed in Richmond Hill

Investigators with the York Regional Police Hold-Up Unit are seeking a suspect and witnesses following a robbery at a pharmacy in the City of Richmond Hill.

On Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2021 at approximately 9:45 a.m., York Regional Police were called to a pharmacy on Yonge Street near Regatta Avenue for a report of a robbery. A male suspect entered the store and threatened the employee while demanding drugs. The suspect obtained various medications and fled from the scene toward Yonge Street. Fortunately, the employee was not physically injured.

The suspect was described as male, heavy-build, wearing dark-coloured clothing, black mask and sunglasses, carrying a black backpack.

Investigators from the Hold-Up Unit remind business owners of the importance of maintaining and updating video surveillance equipment. Quality images help to identify suspects, can aid in arrests, and have a tremendous impact during court proceedings.
