Man charged with arson after 3 early morning fires in Newmarket

A man has been charged with arson and mischief following three early morning fires in the area of Leslie Street and Davis Drive in Newmarket on Monday, May 16. 

York Regional Police were called to three separate fires, two at a bank and one at a vehicle dealership, at about 6:30 a.m. 

The fires were contained and extinguished by Central York Fire Service. There were no injuries, however, property damage is estimated at $100,000 in total. 

After reviewing video surveillance from the scenes, investigators identified the suspect, located him and laid charges. 

Lesley Cleave, 48, of no fixed address, has been charged with three counts of arson and three counts of mischief.
