Man charged in connection with 4 York Region break and enters

Police located a number of stolen items

Investigators with the York Regional Police #5 District Criminal Investigations Bureau have charged a 25-year-old man in connection with a series of overnight residential break and enters in which the residents were at home during the commission of the offence.

During the month of May 2022, investigators responded to four break and enters at residential homes in York Region, where high-end jewelry, clothing and accessories were stolen.

On Thursday, May 19, 2022 at approximately 4 a.m. York Regional Police were called to a residential alarm the area of Greenvalley Circle and Blue Ridge Trail in Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville. Upon arrival, police identified the incident as a break and enter. A male suspect had been seen leaving the area in a grey Mazda 3. At approximately 9 a.m., a second break and enter was discovered in the same area. Investigators reviewed video surveillance and were able to identify the suspect.

The suspect was located and charged. Police positively linked the suspect to two other break and enters in the area of Chalmers Road and Castleridge Drive in the City of Richmond Hill. As part of the investigation, a search warrant was conducted and a number of stolen items were recovered. Additional jewelry has been recovered which has yet to be linked to a specific offence. Officers are seeking additional victims who have not yet come forward to help identify the recovered property. Photographs can be found here.
