A man has been arrested after a vehicle collided with a hydro pole on Eagle Street in Newmarket last night.

A Ford F150 truck hit a hydro pole at about 11:20 p.m. on April 27, York Regional Police said.

One male was arrested, however police could not provide any more details at this time.

The collision caused a power outage that affected more than 1,400 customers, Newmarket-Tay Power said. Crews worked overnight to switch customers and power was restored by 1:48 a.m.

Crews were back on the scene this morning to replace the hydro pole that NT Power said was destroyed.

As a result of the repair, the nearby Central York Fire Services station, Ray Twinney Recreation Complex and 17150 Yonge St. are without power. The outage is expected to last for four hours.
