Large police presence in Newmarket for suspicious vehicles investigation

UPDATE, NEW PHOTOS: As of 6 p.m., the incident is resolved, York Regional Police report

Update, 6 p.m.: The situation has been resolved, police said at about 6 p.m. on and there are no ongoing concerns. 

Update: Police have since determined that there is only one suspicious vehicle involved and only one location. The vehicle on McBean Avenue is not connected and there is no concern there, according to YRP.

Two suspicious vehicles in Newmarket have resulted in a large police presence in the area of Bayview Avenue and Mulock Drive and Bayview and McBean Avenue. 

Police have asked residents to avoid the area and to expect traffic delays as a result of the ongoing investigation and lane closures.

There are a number of emergency vehicles, ambulances, and a tactical team in the parking lot of a nearby plaza.

Police vehicles were also visible near the entrance to the Tom Taylor Trail on Mulock.

Part of the area appears to be blocked off with pylons.
