Human remains discovered in Vaughan

York Regional Police are investigating after human remains were located in the City of Vaughan.

On May 19, 2021, officers located bone fragments during a search in the area of Keele Street, north of Kirby Road, in connection with an investigation. The fragments were sent for testing and it has been determined to be human remains.

The Office of the Chief Coroner has been contacted. Further testing will be conducted to attempt to determine the identity of the deceased and the cause of death. No further information will be available until the examination is completed.

There are no concerns for public safety connected to this incident.
