Have you seen Zhipi? He may have been dognapped

York Regional Police is seeking public assistance to locate a family pet that is believed to have been stolen in the City of Markham.

On Wednesday, March 25, 2020, at approximately 12:30 a.m., a couple took their two dogs outside, off leash, near their condo building on Cedarland Drive in the City of Markham. After a few minutes, the couple realized they could not locate one of their dogs. They continued to search for him and spoke to a witness who reported seeing the dog get picked up by three males and lifted into the back of a dark-coloured SUV. The vehicle drove westbound on Clegg Drive.

Investigators have connected with animal services, shelters and veterinary clinics and, at this time, the dog has not been turned in. Investigators are asking anyone with information to contact police.

MISSING DOG:  

  • Dog’s name is Zhipi (pronounced Joppy)  
  • Alaskan Malamute  
  • Male, three years  
  • 100 lbs. 
  • Black-and-white fur  
  • Brown eyes  
  • A black nose with a pink spot in the middle  
  • Wearing a brown collar
