Four charged after home invasion in Richmond Hill

Police say two homeowners were assaulted and threatened while the suspects demanded cash

Investigators with the York Regional Police Hold-Up Unit have charged four men following a home invasion robbery in the City of Richmond Hill.

On Thursday, Feb. 25, 2021, police responded to a residence on Township Avenue, which is in the area of Bathurst Street and Jefferson Side Road, for report of a home invasion robbery.

The homeowners called 911 and reported that several male suspects, armed with guns, had knocked on the door, then forced their way into the house. The two homeowners were assaulted and threatened while the suspects demanded cash.

The suspects obtained two handbags and a quantity of cash and fled from the home. Officers arrived as the suspects were getting into two vehicles, an Acura MDX, and a Porsche that was owned by the victim. The suspects in the Porsche rammed a marked police vehicle and both vehicles fled. The suspects were located after they abandoned the two vehicles and entered a third vehicle.

Officers successfully performed a high-risk takedown on the vehicle in the City of Toronto and the four suspects were arrested. Two handguns, a quantity of cocaine, and all items stolen from the residence were located and seized. The investigation is ongoing.

  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Possession of firearm in vehicle
  • Possession of restricted firearm with ammunition
  • Tamper with serial number
  • Possession of a firearm while prohibited
  • Fail to comply with probation order
  • Possession of cocaine
