A former King City Secondary School teacher has resigned his membership with the Ontario College of Teachers after he was charged by York Regional Police for child pornography-related offences.

About a month prior to a pending disciplinary proceeding with the college, Robert Aurich informed the regulator on March 24 that he would be withdrawing his membership, and will not teach in any public or private school again in Ontario, or work in any position that requires membership, and will never seek reinstatement.

The college stated the registrar will cancel his teaching certificate.

Investigations with the internet child exploitation unit arrested Aurich, then 46, at King City Secondary School on Nov. 18, 2020, after they were alerted to images containing child pornography uploaded on social media. They traced the images back to York Region District School Board. He was charged with possession of child pornography, distribute child pornography, and accessing child pornography.
