Firearm, drugs seized in arrest of wanted man

As part of an ongoing investigation, police arrested a Toronto man on the strength of an outstanding warrant and found a loaded, 40 calibre Glock handgun on him

York Regional Police have laid charges and seized a firearm and drugs after a 36-year-old man from the City of Toronto was arrested on several outstanding warrants.

On July 14, 2020, as part of an ongoing drug investigation, officers located a male who was wanted on six warrants connected to incidents involving firearms. He was arrested at 3390 Weston Road in the City of Toronto on the outstanding warrants.

During his arrest, he was found in possession of a fully-loaded 40 calibre Glock handgun, and a large quantity of cocaine, fentanyl and cash.

Charged: Reeke Ellis, 36, of the City of Toronto

Charges:

  • Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in a Motor Vehicle
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Weapon
  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking- Cocaine
  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking- Other Schedule 1 Substance
  • Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
  • Fail to Comply with Release Order x2

The accused has been held in custody and will be appearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in Newmarket on July 20, 2020.
