Few details known about 407 collision causing motorcylist's death

Ontario Provincial Police believe the collision on Sunday, June 25 shortly after 3:30 p.m. in Vaughan was seen by 'numerous' witnesses

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are seeking the public's assistance in its investigation of the collision on Highway 407 in Vaughan that resulted in the death of a 35-year-old motorcyclist Sunday afternoon.

Numerous calls were received reporting the collision on Highway 407, near Highway 27, on Sunday, June 25 shortly after 3:30 p.m. When Highway Safety Division officers arrived at scene, they found Peel Regional EMS attending to the male driver of a motorcycle that was located nearby, heavily damaged.

The motorcyclist, from Brampton, was pronounced deceased at the scene. 

Police have not released any other details, and are seeking witnesses.

"Investigators believe that there may have been numerous witnesses to the collision," police said in a news release.

Highway 407 eastbound lanes were closed for several hours for the OPP and Office of the Chief Coroner investigation at the scene. The OPP HSD crime unit is assisting with the ongoing investigation, police said.
