The ex-boyfriend of a Richmond Hill woman who was violently abducted from a home in Wasaga Beach 22 months ago is now facing murder charges.

Elnaz Hajtamiri was abducted on Jan 12, 2022 around 8:30 p.m. from a Trailwood Place home and she hasn't been seen since. Police have since arrested several people in connection with her disappearance and the violent assault of Hajtamiri that took place where she was living in Richmond Hill on Dec. 20, 2021.

One of the people arrested was Mohamad Lilo, her former boyfriend, who was originally charged with kidnapping after his arrest in July 2022.

Agata Czajkowski, a strategic communications officer for the Ontario Provincial Police, confirmed on Nov. 9 a Crown attorney charged Lilo by way of direct indictment with first-degree murder of Elnaz Hajtamiri.

Hajtamiri was taken from the Wasaga home by people dressed in fake police gear who stuffed her into a white Lexus RX SUV and fled.

On Dec. 20, 2021, Hajtamiri was attacked and struck with a frying pan in her underground parking garage on King William Crescent in Richmond Hill, near Yonge Street and Bantry Avenue. She suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Since then, five people have been arrested in connection with that attack.
