Driver receives life-threatening injuries on roadside in Markham

A 27-year-old man remains in life-threatening condition in a trauma centre after he was hit by a passing car when he had got out of his vehicle parked at the side of the road in Markham Friday. 

According to York Regional Police, the driver of a Hyundai Genesis had pulled over to investigate a noise coming from the vehicle when a southbound Honda Civic struck the open door, throwing the driver a considerable distance on Donald Cousens Parkway, south of Copper Creek Drive, on Jan. 12 at about 6 p.m.

The passenger of the Hyundai received a minor injury, police said, and the driver of the Civic sustained minor injuries and remained at the scene.

No charges have been laid at this time, police said.
