Charges laid in stabbing at Vaughan weekend wedding

Investigators with the York Regional Police #4 District Criminal Investigations Bureau have charged a 36-year-old man following a stabbing in the City of Vaughan.

On Saturday, Aug. 31, 2019, shortly after 11:15 p.m., officers responded to a banquet hall on Jane Street, north of Highway 7 for a weapons call. When officers arrived on scene, they learned that a wedding was being held at the location and a male victim had been stabbed who was a guest at the wedding.

The victim, a 34-year-old man from Toronto, was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. 

The suspect was identified and a warrant was issued for his arrest. On Thursday, Sept. 5, 2019, the suspect turned himself in at #4 District Headquarters and has been charged.

Charged:

  • Alexander Trinh, 36, of the City of Brampton

Charge:

  • Aggravated assault
