Body of man found in golf course pond in Richmond Hill

Police say they recovered the body of a Toronto man, 71, after a golf cart was submerged in the pond

Officers with the York Regional Police Marine Unit have recovered the body of a 71-year-old man from Toronto in a pond at a golf course in the City of Richmond Hill. 

On Monday, July 11, 2022, at approximately 12 p.m., York Regional Police were called to a golf course located in the area of Leslie Street and Bloomington Road for a report of a golf cart driving into a pond and a possible drowning. When officers arrived, they learned that a golf cart, along with a male victim, had submerged into the pond. 

Shortly before 4 p.m., officers with the York Regional Police Marine Unit recovered the body. The coroner will be attending the scene to confirm the identity of the deceased. 

The death does not appear to be suspicious.
