Body of deceased adult found after Markham house fire extinguished

A body that is believed to be an adult male was located in the Reesor Road house this afternoon, police say

A deceased body was found in Markham house after a fire was extinguished this afternoon.

York Regional Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the fire at the house on Reesor Road, north of Steeles Avenue, on Monday, April 1 at about 3 p.m., police said in a news release.

Markham Fire and Emergency Services found the residence engulfed in flames on the second floor and attic, and once the fire was brought under control, police said a body believed to be an adult man was found.

Two adults had managed to escape and were not injured, police added.

The cause of the fire is unknown.

The Office of the Ontario Fire Marshal will be attending the scene to investigate, police added.
