A man wanted for attempted murder following a road rage incident last week in Richmond Hill has surrendered to police.

On Feb. 7 at about 9:10 p.m., police responded to a collision at the intersection of Oneida Crescent and Red Maple Road, where a Kia sedan had struck a light pole, according to a York Regional Police news release. The Kia driver fled on foot while the driver of another vehicle was being treated by paramedics.

Police say the incident began near Bantry Avenue and Yonge Street, when the Kia driver pulled up beside the Honda, shone a flashlight at the driver, and then brandished a knife and threatened to kill him.

The Honda driver continued to Oneida Crescent, where the driver exited his vehicle to confront the other driver.

A man ran at the victim with a knife, police said, while the victim got back into his vehicle and drove a short distance to once again exit his vehicle. The victim told police someone intentionally drove a vehicle at him and struck him before hitting a pole.

The victim was treated for minor injuries.

On Feb. 12, the suspect, Jarret Koworvsky Jean Louis, 26, of Richmond Hill, surrendered to police. He has been charged with attempted murder, assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily harm, uttering death threats, dangerous operation of a conveyance causing bodily harm, possession of a weapon, failure to stop after an accident causing bodily harm, and driving while under suspension.
