York Regional Police laid multiple charges and seized a firearm and a stolen vehicle in an investigation in Richmond Hill.
Officers were called to Weldrick Road West and Yonge Street on Friday, April 28, around 12:15 a.m., after a 2022 Lexus RX350 was reported stolen from a driveway.
With the assistance of the Air Support Unit, officers located the Lexus travelling on Yonge Street in tandem with a black Cadillac.
The vehicles fled in different directions.
Officers kept observation on both vehicles and were able to apprehend three suspects and recover the stolen vehicle, York Regional Police said in a news release.
Two occupants of the Cadillac have been charged.
A third suspect, the driver of the stolen Lexus is a 16-year-old male of no fixed address, was found to be in possession of a loaded firearm.
He has been charged with 15 criminal offences, including dangerous driving, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm, and failing to comply with release orders, police say.
Hasham Mustafa, 22, of Mississauga, is charged with:
- Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
- Flight from peace officer
- Possession of break-in Instruments
- Disguise with intent
- Possession of an automobile master key
Ahmed Hassan, 25, of Toronto is charged with:
- Possession of break-in Instruments
- Disguise with intent
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking – meth
- Possession of cocaine
